A .NET smart card is a type of smart card that uses Microsoft’s .NET framework technology to manage and secure data stored on the card. A .NET Card secure method for implementing two-factor authentication (2FA) logon and other PKI-based applications within a Windows environment. It provides secure storage and management of personal identification information, digital certificates, and other sensitive information, making it a useful tool for secure authentication and identification. The .NET framework provides a secure environment for running applications on the smart card, ensuring that the stored information is protected against unauthorized access.

Most manufacturers have discontinued making .NET Card and have been replaced by minidriver or GIDS Cards.
