LONDON 6 February 2019: Truphone today announces that it has received GlobalPlatform certification for its Io3 eSIM operating system.

Any device manufacturer or mobile network operator (MNO) can be assured that Truphone’s Io3 eSIM is fully qualified against the necessary GSMA and SIMAlliance standards—enabling them a faster time to market for IoT solutions. Recognition of the implementation of these standards promotes eSIM interoperability, stability and flexibility for the protection of future digital services. In close partnership with UL Identity Management & Security, Truphone has developed and tested its eSIM and remote SIM provisioning solutions to ensure that a secure, open eSIM ecosystem becomes a reality.

Iain Maxwell, Product Manager for Mobile Tools at UL Identity Management & Security stated: “We are continuously updating our existing test solutions for eUICC based testing in order to help our customers scale the Internet of Things. Supporting the M2M and Consumer ecosystems is one of our key focus points. We believe that pioneering technology providers such as Truphone greatly benefit from use of our complete M2M and Consumer test tool portfolio.”

Steve Alder, Chief Business Development Officer at Truphone said: “Independent and trusted validation of our Io3 eSIM gives further confidence to our customers and partners that our unique eSIM technology is secure and interoperable with the wider mobile connectivity ecosystem. Device makers and mobile network operator partners can be assured that their products are secure and not locked into a vendor specific solution.”

Truphone’s Io3 eSIM solutions are now in production with its manufacturing partners and already deployed for use in a variety of M2M and Consumer devices.

If you are curious to see what else we’ve been working on, we’ll be showing off our eSIM, and our full suite of Io3 products for IoT at MWC19 in Barcelona from February 25th-28th.

About the Truphone Io3 eSIM

The Truphone Io3 eSIM implements the GSMA eSIM specifications and is interoperable with any GSMA-compliant remote SIM provisioning platform, including but not limited to Truphone’s own GSMA-accredited remote SIM provisioning platform. This means that for Consumer and M2M devices the eSIM can securely provision and store multiple operator profiles in a single integrated chip.

The Truphone eSIM supports the necessary Embedded SIM (ES) interfaces to support remote provisioning and is aligned to the latest 3GPP, Java Card, SIMAlliance, ETSI and GSMA specifications.
