CARDLOGIX AUTOMATES PARKING FOR CITY OF SANTA MONICA

Irvine, Ca., April 17, 2006 -- CardLogix, a leading supplier of smart cards and software for the secure transaction of data and value, announced today that it has completed the first phase of parking meter automation for the city of Santa Monica, California. CardLogix helped the city develop a smart card-based solution for the payment of parking fees at meters throughout the city, which collects on 6,400 spaces. The cards replace coin with stored value that is deducted at the meter to cover the amount of parking time desired. Card value is loaded and replenished at the city’s public offices and the card can be used at any meter throughout Santa Monica. CardLogix has integrated their cards, Duncan parking meters and recharge Terminals from QI Systems into a complete system. The smart card is an alternative to coin and cash. Although the meters still accept coins, the card is a faster, more convenient and safer method of payment.

Ken Indorf, VP of Sales for CardLogix, says that Santa Monica is one of many cities throughout the U.S. turning to smart card-based parking meters. According to the Smart Card Alliance (SCA) the $17 billion parking industry currently has 30 programs for smart card meters throughout the U.S.
