April 22, 2002 -- CardLogix, a leading smart card company, today announced it has formed a strategic partnership with Precise Biometrics AB of Sweden.  The partnership integrates CardLogix smart cards with Precise Biometrics fingerprint readers for transaction and physical security applications.  Precise Biometrics becomes a CardLogix Smart Partner, joining a worldwide network of smart card solution developers working with the CardLogix smart card platforms.  CardLogix has incorporated the Precise Biometrics' readers into their M.O.S.T. Toolz development product and is also incorporating Precise Biometrics' Match-on-Card algorithms directly into the their M.O.S.T.™ card operating system.  As part of the agreement, CardLogix is also re-selling Precise Biometrics readers.

 The Right Combination For Secure Identification

This partnership combines the advanced encryption power of smart cards with the proven security of biometric verification. Using these technologies, a smart card stores a person's fingerprint, which is an absolute and unique identifier. With each use of the card, the reader captures the user's fingerprint and it is matched with the print stored in the card. Once that match is made, the card OS can proceed with other cryptographic or processing functions for user and system authorization. 

 Precise Biometrics' Match-on-Card technology stores and executes all identification directly on the smart card, instead of relying on outside processing where data can be intercepted and misused. Transaction time is also faster, because data never leaves the card. 

Development of systems that deploy these technologies has been streamlined with CardLogix'  M.O.S.T. Toolz, which includes the Winplex^® API version 1.20 and the M.O.S.T. Toolz file creation utility. Together, they configure card system parameters to meet any requirement for access and security.  A powerful 32-Bit API, Winplex^® enables developers to link smart cards into larger distributed management systems, i.e. intranets or financial management systems without having to do low-level programming.

 The rollout of technology from the partnership starts with immediate availability of CardLogix Winplex^® version 1.20, which is provided as part of M.O.S.T. Toolz for $99 and includes sample source code for biometric applications. M.O.S.T. Cards will be fully integrated with Match-On-Card capability within the next 60- 90 days.
