Futronic FS88 is the PIV edition of the FS80 fingerprint scanner for high security biometric solutions. Futronic FS88 is an optical single fingerprint scanner certified by the FBI to be compliant with PIV-071006 image quality specifications. Futronic FS88 Fingerprint Scanner uses a sophisticated CMOS sensor and precise optical technology to deliver high quality fingerprint images with nearly zero distortions. Futronic FS88 Fingerprint Reader leverages the latest in biometric technology, including a factory-programmed unique serial ID number (UID), Live Finger Detection, and Infrared LEDs.
Furtonic FS88 is ideal for high-traffic applications such as border control, driver licenses, ID cards, voting, and many other civilian AFIS applications.
The FS88 meets the US Federal Information Processing Standard 201 (FIPS 201) for Personal Identification Verification (PIV) of Federal Employees and Contractors. The scanner is also listed in the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) FIPS 201 Evaluation Program Approved Product List.
Every Futronic FS82 fingerprint scanner contains a unique serial ID number which is pre-programmed into the USB device descriptor, making it traceable in the field. Software applications can read and store this number into a database during each fingerprint scan, which is important for security systems and government identity management projects.
Futronic FS88 is equipped with multiple features to enhance fingerprint capture reliability, providing nearly undistorted raw fingerprint images into a PC at a speed of 100ms.
With Futronic FS88, problematic fingers, such as those that are wet, blurred or dry, can be reliably scanned. The fingerprint scanner is illuminated by 4 Infrared LEDs, and the light intensity is automatically adjusted according to the fingerprint’s characteristics to optimize fingerprint image quality for a variety of skin types.
FS88 features a durable, practically indestructible sensor made from crown glass with a thickness of 14mm. The unit is designed to handle rugged environments with a long product lifespan.
Futronic FS88 ensures that only living human tissue is enrolled and authenticated with the Live Finger Detection (LFD). This patent-pending technology was developed by Futronic Technology Co. Ltd. to prevent unauthorized access to sensitive data or valuable assets by the use of fraudulent, artificial fingerprints made from silicone, rubber, play-doh, and other materials. LFD is performed by a special electronic circuit built into the reader. The signal is emitted underneath the human skin with a unique algorithm to distinguish the returned signal of live human finger from that of other material. The LFD feature is included in all Futronic standard software to enhance the reliability of your biometric solution.
Futronic FS88 has a USB 2.0 plug and play compatible interface. The Futronic FS88 fingerprint scanner 2.0 driver supports Android, Windows 2000, XP, and Vista, CE 5.0 and 6.0, and Mac OS.
FS88 is preconfigured to work with RAVEN™ Biometric Enrollment and Verification Software by Corvus Integration, Inc. In addition, FS88 will soon be ready to work with Fast Check™ Biometric Verification and Enrollment Software by CardLogix Corporation.
For custom applications, FS88 can be developed with fingerprint recognition software development kits (SDKs) provided by Futronic Technology to create fingerprint matching software solutions capable of performing biometric verification, identification, and enrollment functions.
