The cut-out does not laminate over the contact chip which keeps the smart chip free of laminate to ensure functionality isn’t compromised . A patch laminate like the 659398 leaves the outer edge of an ID card unlaminated, but patch laminates are thicker and more durable than full-coverage laminates.
