Secure Smart Communication Protocol (SSCP)

Secure Smart Communication Protocol (SSCP) is a proprietary cryptographic protocol developed by LEGIC Identsystems for secure communication between smart cards, mobile credentials, and LEGIC-enabled readers. It is an open, bidirectional, and highly secure protocol promoted by the SPAC Alliance. SSCP is designed to ensure long-term compliance with European regulatory frameworks and allows for the full potential of modern security systems to be utilized. It ensures confidentiality, integrity, and authenticity of data exchanged over contactless or serial interfaces by utilizing strong symmetric encryption (typically AES). SSCP is primarily used in applications such as access control, ticketing, and ID management, where secure end-to-end communication and controlled key management are essential.
