Tuesday 5th September 2006 — After almost 7 years in Testing Tools and Operating Systems, Aspects Software has decided to focus its resources solely on its core strength, the Testing Tools market.
Didier Sérodon, C.E.O., said ‘after a period of product investment we’ve seen an increasing interest globally for our suite of Test Tools and have therefore decided to concentrate on what
has been our priority business. As a result we’ve decided to separate Tools from the subsidiary Operating Systems part of our business. This new focus will not only allow us to strengthen
Aspects’ position in its current market but also to penetrate new markets and geographies.
We have had significant successes, pioneering the Java SD/MMC markets and obtaining Visa and FIPS certification for our OS755 Operating System on a global basis, however the synergies
between both sides of the business have reduced, and it made sense to separate them.’
Athena Smartcard Solutions, a leading Japanese smart card vendor, has acquired all Aspects Software Operating Systems assets, including IP, resources and brands and plans to broaden its
product range by offering a Java Card solution, in addition to its successful native OS.
As of August 2006 Aspects Software is no longer involved in Operating Systems development.
