Paris, November 5, 2002 – Hive Minded today announced Smartcard.NET™, an innovative new multi-application, multi-language smart card reference platform. Smartcard.NET has been designed to deliver the numerous advantages of the Microsoft designed, ECMA-certified .NET framework on a smart card platform.
The technology includes a virtual machine designed to bring .NET to the smart card environment, as well as the tool integration necessary to design, develop and debug a .NET solution.
“We feel the .NET platform shows great potential for smart card devices,” said Tim Wilkinson, President of Hive Minded. “Our Smartcard.NET product will help provide companies like SchlumbergerSema with the ability to expand customer choice and explore new market segments.”
Hive Minded has licensed this technology and provided a reference implementation to SchlumbergerSema, the world’s leading smart card provider. “We are pleased to show innovative technology designed to optimize the potential of smart cards,” said Jorgen Rasmussen, President, Cards, SchlumbergerSema. “The .NET smart card provides a secure platform to connect the various players of these new markets, and offers the security and control that will be vital.” The technology will be showcased at the November Cartes 2002 exhibition in Paris.
