HELSINKI, Finland, Oberthur Technologies, a global leader in highly secure identity solutions for the identity market, introduces the first IAS-ECC card compatible with Microsoft Windows 7.

ID-OneTM IAS-ECC is an identity card that provides identification, authentication and an electronic signature solution that can be implemented across Europe and meets all the specifications of the Citizen’s European Card.

Because of its flexibility and interoperability, IAS ECC cards can be easily deployed by integrators and security application providers. The minidriver defined by Microsoft and developed by Oberthur, allows the “plug and play” functionality of the IAS ECC card with Windows 7.

This highly secure, smart card-based solution enables easy deployment of any physical and logical access control project for businesses and / or governments.

ID-OneTM IAS-ECC is about to receive security approvals and certifications required by governments, in particular Common Criteria EAL4 + PP-SSCD, a level of security required for all qualified signature projects.

Oberthur Technologies and Microsoft have worked in partnership to develop this minidriver. The Microsoft minidriver is a software library that translates all features of the card into a single interface designated by Microsoft for Windows 7.

The minidriver v7 offers new features, such as automatic recognition of the smart card and the use of the latest cryptographic algorithms. (eg: AES & elliptic curves). This ensures the end user seamless access to the latest security technologies.

“This integration proves Oberthur Technologies’ expertise in electronic identity,” confirms Moise Moyal, Marketing Director of the Identity Division. “The adoption of the IAS – ECC standard in Microsoft products is one of the best solutions for securing logical access control projects for governments and businesses.
