2006-03-24 — U.S.-based Raak Technologies, which specializes in computer network authentication, this week announced new products to support Microsoft software related to smart cards and digital certificates. Microsoft recently introduced a test version of its Certificate Lifecycle Manager, and Raak says it has released middleware that works with the Microsoft technology that enables the secure storage of digital certificates and keys on a smart card or USB secure token. Microsoft plans to offer a second “beta” or test version of its Certificate Lifecycle Manager and to release the product commercially in the first half of 2007, according to Raak. “Certificate Lifecycle Manager is designed to lower the complexity and cost associated with deploying and managing smart cards in the enterprise,” Dan Cunningham, president and CEO of Austin, Texas-based Raak, said in a statement. “The combination of Raak smart card products with Microsoft solutions provides customers an end-to-end smart card solution.”
