London, 21st April 2009: SIMalliance, the global association of SIM card manufacturers, today announces the latest version of its loader tool SIMalliance Loader Release 6 to enable the delivery of a new class of services on the Universal Integrated Circuit Card (UICC). To further support the development of next generation services, SIMalliance also announces the latest version of Java Card Stepping Stones Release 7, a practical guide for the development of Java applications guaranteed to be interoperable with the Universal Subscriber Identity Module (USIM).
Aimed at network operators, application developers and wireless service providers, the two new deliverables are designed to increase the interoperability of UICC technologies, enlarge the community of application developers and ultimately increase the value of UICC applications to boost the deployment of new value added services.
“Technologies, such as Smart Card Web Server (SCWS) and Mobile NFC, put the UICC at the centre of the mobile services ecosystem, facilitating secure over-the-air delivery of new services to consumers,” said Michel Canitrot, Chairman of the Board, SIMalliance. “The SIMalliance is laying the foundation to create an interoperable environment which will speed the delivery of these mobile converged services. With our new deliverables, SIMalliance Loader Release 6 and Java Card Stepping Stones Release 7, new technologies are ready to be deployed and UICC interoperability is guaranteed.”
SIM Alliance Loader Release 6
With a new look and feel, SIMalliance Loader Release 6 allows network operators and service developers to manage ETSI toolkit applications, compliant to the latest release using the high-speed CAT-TP protocol. A must-have tool for any applications developer, SIMalliance Loader Release 6 enables users to download and install applications on the card, analyse card content and remove applications. SIM Alliance Loader Release 6 has been tested with all main SIMalliance supplier cards, becoming a truly interoperable tool.
The tool can be downloaded for free from the SIMalliance website: www.simalliance.org.
Java Card Stepping Stones Release 7
Java Card Stepping Stones Release 7 is a whitepaper aimed at network operators, application developers and wireless service providers to increase the interoperability of UICC technologies in order to boost the deployment of new value-added services. The practical guide analyses interoperability issues and provides tips to help service developers to design new applications that will work regardless of the Java USIM card used. The new version of the document is aligned to ETSI Release 7, CAT-TP, Smart Card Web Server (SCWS) and Mobile NFC technology.
The Java Card Stepping Stones Release 7 whitepaper can be downloaded from the SIMalliance website: www.simalliance.org.
