20/04/2012 — MEXICO DF, (BSW) – Smartmatic, the world’s leading technology solutions company for governments, and Italy-based Green Bit SpA, the leading FBI-certified Livescan system supplier, proudly announced their joint initiative to provide an FBI solution. biometric registry for the Federal Election Institute of Mexico (IFE).

Smartmatic, a specialist in identity and election management solutions, partnered with Green Bit to offer a fingerprint scanner for this project. More than 1,300 DactyScan84n were delivered to Mexican authorities in charge of distributing the equipment across the country to biometrically register voters.

“We are pleased to participate in this future-oriented biometric registration project. The initiative, currently taken by the Federal Election Institute, will bring enormous benefits to a vast number of Mexican voters,” said Antonio Mugica, executive director of Smartmatic. “Combining our identity management technology with Green Bit’s state-of-the-art equipment has allowed us to develop an up-to-date solution that will respond to current IFE requirements, ensuring a secure, complete and easy project,” said Mugica.

After challenging technical tests, the Green Bit DactyScan84n was found to be fully compliant with the ambitious specifications set by IFE and was eventually preferred over other competitors. The DactyScan84n is a ten-digit FBI certified Livescan IAFIS IQS Appendix F used in many countries for government identity and public safety projects.
