May 24, 2021 — In order to further implement and achieve the overall goal of “smart prison” lead by the Ministry of Justice of People’s Republic of China, all inmates are required to capture demographic and biometric data including fingerprint and palmprint since 2019. All data catpured will be stored at provincial level server. As prime contractor, BioID Technologes provided the turnkey solution including biometric enrollment system and livescan device. So far, at least 160 BioPalm scanners are deployed for major prisons in different provinces. More BioPalm livescan devices are to be deployed for other prisons across China as required.
