Las Vegas, NV, March 7, 2000 – CardLogix, a leading manufacturer of smart cards and software for the movie industry, announced today that AOL Moviefone, the nation’s largest movie listing guide and ticketing service, has adopted the CardLogix Movie Gold™ Smart Card Payment Platform for stored value movie ticketing.
CardLogix Movie Gold Smart Cards and software, coupled with AOL Moviefone’s MARS Sequel System offers movie theaters enhanced capabilities for the purchase, redemption, and tracking of gift certificates, passes, and coupons as well as traditional ticketing and concession purchases. The card stores dollar values and other information for secure and fast redemption at movie theaters. The system provides theaters with unrestricted ticketing control options to increase transaction efficiency. These options include unlimited ticket types, unlimited advance day sales, multiple payment methods, group sales, and readmission tickets for fast, accurate ticket refunds. Additionally, parents will be able to provide Movie Gold Smart Cards to their children that will not allow the purchase of tickets for certain MPAA ratings. This system is being demonstrated at the ShoWest 2000 tradeshow, March 6-9 in CardLogix’ booth, #s 5024/5026 and AOL Moviefone’s MARS booth, #434. Exhibitors that choose to deploy the CardLogix Movie Gold Smart Cards as gift certificates will enjoy the flexibility of being able to sell gift certificates in any denomination without the additional cost associated with preprinting gift certificates tickets.
“The Movie Gold Smart Card Platform has integrated seamlessly into the MARS Sequel System and offers additional opportunities to integrate with Moviefone and Moviefone.com ticketing operations. Moviegoers can purchase tickets for current and future days via the telephone and the Internet and use the card to retrieve those orders at MARS Sequel box offices and automated ticket machines.” Says Mark Liebman, Senior Technology Manager at AOL Moviefone.
“We are very excited about AOL Moviefone’s adoption of our technology. They bring with them a vast knowledge about the needs and habits of moviegoers and they have a proven track record with many of the circuits around the country. We see this as a big plus for any theater interested in this technology.” Says Bruce Ross Vice President of Marketing for CardLogix.
