Atlanta, GA, July 17, 2014 — M2SYS Technology, a global innovator in biometric identification management solutions, announced today that their next generation M2-FuseID™ “smart” fingerprint reader has received FBI Personal Identity Verification (PIV) certification. FBI PIV certification is viewed by the industry as a key characteristic to provide assurance to end users of biometric identification management systems that the smart finger reader meets or exceeds FBI interoperability standards and quality specifications for civil ID and other commercial applications.

Conceived, designed, and built by the M2SYS Research & Development team, M2-FuseID™ is a next generation, innovative fingerprint scanner that delivers optimal security, reliability, and accuracy with advanced finger imaging and sophisticated “liveness” detection to prevent spoofing and fraud. In addition to capturing a high-quality, 500 dpi fingerprint image, the device concurrently captures the unique finger vein pattern inside the finger to ensure near 100% enrollment rates and accurate identification through “smart” scanning technology. The M2-FuseID™ “smart” fingerprint reader is optimal for biometric data capture, identification, and verification in civil ID, banking/financial services, and other markets that require the utmost levels of security and accuracy.

“FBI PIV certification of our innovative M2-FuseID™ is an important achievement for this unique, “smart” finger scanner,” commented Mizan Rahman, Founder and CEO/CTO of M2SYS Technology. “Our goal was to design and create an ultra-precise finger reader that extends the versatility, reliability, and accuracy of standard fingerprint readers by allowing end users to capture the fingerprint and finger vein pattern at the same time, capitalizing on the strength of multimodal biometrics for accuracy and user acceptability. Plus, the device features sophisticated liveness detection by simultaneously looking at and below the skin’s surface in a single scan. This offers protection against fake and spoofed fingerprints to ensure confidence in the reader’s ability to accurately identify individuals, especially in places where the highest level of security is paramount, such as the financial services industry.”
