Cogent Systems, Inc. was a manufacturer of automated fingerprint identification systems (AFIS). In 2010 3M acquired Cogent Systems, and in 2016 Gemalto (Thales) purchased 3M’s Identity Management Business (which includes Cogent Systems, Inc., Document Reader, and Secure Materials Business).
