Gemalto was an international digital security company providing software applications, secure personal devices such as smart cards and eTokens, and managed services. It was formed in June 2006 by the merger of two companies, Axalto and Gemplus International. Purchased by Thales Group in April 2019 and now operating as Thales DIS (Digital Identity and Security), Gemalto was until its acquisition the world’s largest manufacturer of SIM cards.
