Description
GIDS Card (Generic Identity Device Specification) is a multi-factor authentication (MFA) smart card that natively works with Microsoft Windows. A GIDS Card is the only PKI smart card whose driver is integrated on each Windows OS since Windows 7 SP1 is ready to run without 3rd party middleware – just enroll within your Windows PKI and use it as the “Identity Device (Microsoft Generic Profile)”.
GIDS is a standard for smart cards that enables them to be used for authentication. While it is not the only standard for smart card authentication, GIDS is a low cost alternative to others PKI cards such as PIV (Personal Identity Verification), a US federal government mandated standard.
Cardlogix GIDS Card are made in accordance to the specification GIDS 2.0 (Generic Identity Device Specification) and are available as a contact or dual-interface Java Card.
