Azure

Microsoft Azure, commonly referred to as Azure is a cloud computing service created by Microsoft for building, testing, deploying, and managing applications and services through Microsoft-managed data centers. It provides software as a service (SaaS), platform as a service (PaaS) and infrastructure as a service (IaaS) and supports many different programming languages, tools, and frameworks, including both Microsoft-specific and third-party software and systems.

Identity and access management (IAM)

With Azure you can protect your applications and data at the front gate with Azure identity and access management solutions. Defend against malicious login attempts and safeguard credentials with risk-based access controls, identity protection tools, and strong authentication options—without disrupting productivity.

Multi-Factor Authentication

With Microsoft IT enabled Azure Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) as an additional verification method for secure sign-in. Users can sign in from any device with a single user identity that is verified with a phone call or mobile app notification. We integrated enhanced security into our existing infrastructure, focusing on the user experience, reducing helpdesk calls, and improving the performance of the service.

To address the increasing security risk of phishing emails and fake web pages that are designed to harvest user names and passwords, Microsoft IT accelerated the adoption of Azure Multi-Factor Authentication for all users at Microsoft. We already had multi-factor authentication for remote access and virtual private network (VPN), in the form of virtual and physical smart cards.

Single Sign-On

Azure Active Directory Seamless Single Sign-On (Azure AD Seamless SSO) automatically signs users in when they are on their corporate devices connected to your corporate network. When enabled, users don’t need to type in their passwords to sign in to Azure AD, and usually, even type in their usernames. This feature provides your users easy access to your cloud-based applications without needing any additional on-premises components.
