Green Bit, a provider of biometric scanners based in Italy, has joined the Gemalto’s government business unit as a result of Thales’ recent acquisition of the company for an undisclosed sum, according to a press release.

The acquisition is expected to accelerate and enhance Gemalto’s biometric capture capabilities.

The combination of fingerprint scanners and software solutions allows Thales-owned Gemalto to provide a wide range of in-house biometric technologies to better support automated fingerprint identification across numerous industries.

Gemalto has more than 200 government digital identity and data protection programs, helping more than 30,000 enterprises worldwide, according to the release.
