Near Field Communication (NFC) is a standard that allows contactless communication between contactless smart card and smartphone. NFC smartphones can read data of NFC cards and can execute different commands. For example, a smart card can be programmed to switch features on or off on the phone, such as Bluetooth. The NFC card can also be used for payments with the phone, or transfer a digital business card and contacts to the NFC smartphone. These general tasks are handled by the “NDEF” (NFC data exchange format) protocol.
